Alan Fernie returns to Uganda
Two years since he was last in Uganda Brass for Africa’s composer in residence is back in Kampala!
Acclaimed brass band composer, arranger and educator Alan Fernie has spent two weeks over the Easter Break in Uganda working with our young musicians and teachers.
Armed with several new pieces especially composed for the trip Alan has been visiting many of the charity’s outreach programmes and mentoring our young teaching team.
On Saturday 31st March a training day for 85 young brass musicians and singers was held at the Brass for Africa training centre in Kampala! A fantastic day for all followed by a spectacular community concert to showcase what they had learned.
We are delighted to be able to attract such fantastic musicians and role models to visit and work with the hugely exciting young Ugandan musicians we support. These cross community, cross country and cross cultural exchanges are life enhancing for all involved.
