Update: Elton John Aids Foundation and Brass for Africa
Earlier this month Brass for Africa Director Jim Trott visited our programme on Kalangala, one of the inhabited Ssesse Islands in Lake Victoria. Kalangala has the highest level of HIV infection in Uganda. According to Uganda’s Aids Commission, 27% of those living in Kalangala are HIV positive compared to the 7.3% of the entire Ugandan population.
With funding from the Elton John AIDS Foundation Brass for Africa is using brass music education alongside workshops and training to increase the comprehensive knowledge of the condition in order to reduce transmission, ensure adherence to medication and reduce the stigma associated with HIV and AIDS. Music saving lives and making life better.
