Muwala Asobola Community Initiative
Muwala Asobola Community Initiative is a locally-run organisation based in Kampala, Uganda, and founded with the objective of enhancing and promoting the rights of children and young people. It directly engages communities through grass-root mobilization, promoting the sensitization of gender equality and addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV); in its own words it is, "Creating Space for Girls Potential". Faridah, one of the pioneers behind this new organisation, is a beneficiary of one of Brass for Africa's previous partnerships with Plan International. She came to us for support with her peers, and through the success of the campaign and everyone's help, this new partnership has been made possible.
As of May 2021, we have been bringing Music and Life-Skills to MACI twice a week into the impoverished settlement of Kawempe where this programme is running. Through these sessions, many girls and young women in Faridah's community now have the opportunity to be engaged, feel empowered and understand their value.
