Special Children Special People

Special Children Special People (SCSP) is a grassroots community-based organisation to rehabilitate, advocate for and empower people with disabilities, with a focus on preparing children for inclusive education. It aims to reduce neglect and combat stigma and abuse. Many young people with disabilities in Uganda struggle to engage in formal education due to many factors like negative perception and low self-esteem. SCSP seeks to advance the well-being, competence and integration of people with disabilities, with a focus on the independence of children with special needs and the empowerment of their families.

Brass for Africa supports SCSP’s objectives of inclusive education by delivering twice-weekly Music & Life-Skills sessions at the centre. We have seen great progress within this programme, and it has highlighted the importance of giving people with disabilities the opportunity to develop new skills and to learn.
