Special Children Special PeopleSpecial Children Special People (SCSP) is a grass-root community-based organisation to rehabilitate, advocate for and empower people with disabilities with a focus on children to prepare them for inclusive education. They aim to reduce neglect and combat stigma and abuse. Many young people with disabilities in Uganda have challenges to adopt into formal education due to many factors like low level of perception and low self-esteem. SCSP seeks to advance the well-being, competence and integration of persons with disabilities into communities with a focus on self-independence to children with special needs and empowerment to their families.
Brass for Africa supports SCSP’s objectives of inclusive education and brings in twice-weekly music and life-skills training sessions to the Centre. We have seen great progress within this programme, and it has emphasised to us the importance of giving PWD’s the opportunity to be given the chance to develop skills and the opportunity to learn.
